Adolescents
Overview
We offer a range of comprehensive therapeutic services to adolescents between the ages of 13-17. Therapy sessions for adolescents are offered both in-person or via teletherapy. Our adolescent therapists have specialized training in working with teenagers, using an integrative approach tailored to meet each adolescent’s needs as they embark on this stage of development and pre-transition to young adulthood. Our therapists gather information about presenting concerns, relevant history, and personal strengths in order to collaborate with the adolescent and parents in creating an individualized treatment plan. The goal of therapy for adolescents is to help teens navigate identity development, learn healthier modes of emotional and behavioral expression, foster the development of problem solving skills, increase self-awareness, and improve interpersonal relationships.
Our Approach
At Balanced Insight, we provide a warm, safe environment that offers a variety of therapeutic approaches and techniques, and select the approach that best fits your teenager’s needs. These interventions include, but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and insight-oriented therapy.
We value parents as partners in their adolescent’s treatment while balancing the adolescent’s development toward independence and identity development. Therapists, in collaboration with parents and the adolescent, will discuss and evaluate progress and areas for continued growth. When appropriate, our therapists can also support parents and the adolescent through contact with school staff and other treatment providers for coordination of care.
